It's going to be a scary summer next year. Guillermo del Toro's highly anticipated adaptation of the Alvin Schwartz book series Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark has been confirmed for an August 2019 premiere.

The announcement was made by director André Øvredal on his official Twitter account. Øvredal tagged del Toro, who will produce the film, in his tweet.

This is certainly great news for fans who have been hoping for a scary new film from del Toro. Although the Pacific Rim director will only be producing, there is little doubt that his influence will be obvious in the horror flick. In addition to that, Øvredal's past work on Trollhunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe would guarantee that Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark will be something to look forward to.

The description for the film reads as follows:

"A group of young teens attempt to solve a mystery that involves a series of spectacularly horrific deaths in their small hometown."

The movie will feature the famous Javier Botet, who is known for his work on the horror flicks REC, The Conjuring 2, Polaroid, Insidious: The Last Key, and Slender Man. Botet has previously worked with del Toro in Mama and Crimson Peak.

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is scheduled for release on August 9, 2019. Interestingly, it will premiere on the same date as Disney's Artemis Fowl, which is a film adaptation of a popular book by Eoin Colfer.
