Good Omens Gets Premiere Date, Opening Title Sequence Revealed

People have been waiting for the Good Omens series for more than two decades now but we finally have an official premiere date for the highly anticipated adaptation. The new show based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's beloved novel will finally air in May and the opening title sequence has just been revealed.

The opening title sequence starts with Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and Crowley (David Tennant) walking alone. However, they are soon joined by people as they continue on their journey.

There are several awesome details in the title sequence that book readers will immediately pick up on. At one point, a UFO actually hovers over the travelers but collides with Crowley and begins to plummet to the ground. However, Aziraphale magically turns into fishes. Needless to say, this isn't the only thing that these two will be messing with in the series.

The synopsis for Good Omens reads as follows:

"Based on the best-selling novel by renowned authors Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, this series follows the story of Aziraphale, an angel, and Crowley, a demon, who have formed an unlikely friendship spanning 6,000 years and have grown fond of life on earth. However, the end of time grows near with the approaching Armageddon and they must now join forces to find a way to save the world."

The show has recently added Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch as the voice of Satan. Considering Cumberbatch's previous voice performances include the dragon Smaug in The Hobbit films, a wolf named Classified in Penguins of Madagascar, The Grinch, and Shere Khan in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, it's only fitting that he should be the ruler of Hell.

All six episodes of Good Omens will premiere on Amazon Prime on May 31.
