It's still a long wait for the premiere of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. However, the film's sequel Godzilla vs. Kong has already started production and has released its official synopsis. In addition to that, the first set photos show Alexander Skarsgård and Eiza González in action.
The set photos were revealed on Twitter, showing Skarsgård and González in matching gold and black suits. At one point, the Big Little Lies actor is seen throwing a punch at a stunt double in what appears to be an action sequence. Check out the images below.
The official synopsis for Godzilla vs. Kong reads as follows:
"In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity's fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans' origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever."
Interestingly, the sequel's full cast list might have featured a major Godzilla: King of the Monsters spoiler. Although Vera Farmiga is one of the lead stars in King of the Monsters, her name is not listed in the Godzilla vs. Kong cast. There are speculations that something will happen to Farmiga's character in the 2019 film. However, it's also possible that her absence might have a not-so-tragic reason.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters will premiere on May 31, 2019. Godzilla vs. Kong is scheduled for release on May 22, 2020.
