George R.R. Martin Admits He's 'Struggling' To Finish The Winds Of Winter

The wait for The Winds of Winter continues yet George R.R. Martin has offered a tiny bit of update on the highly anticipated A Song of Ice and Fire novel. The Game of Thrones creator somehow admitted that he is "struggling" to finish Book 6 amidst work on Fire and Blood and other projects.

In an interview with The Guardian, Martin openly spoke about his struggles with The Winds of Winter. The ASOIAF author confessed that the novel is a very different project compared to his new book Fire and Blood.

"I've been struggling with it for a few years. The Winds of Winter is not so much a novel as a dozen novels, each with a different protagonist, each having a different cast of supporting players and antagonists and allies and lovers around them, and all of these weaving together in an extremely complex fashion. So it's very, very challenging."

Although it's a difficult process, Martin confirmed that he is still typing up new pages for The Winds of Winter. Hopefully, this will ease anxious ASOIAF fans who are feverishly waiting for the sixth book.

There have been speculations that Martin might no longer be interested in finishing the final two books of A Song of Ice and Fire. After all, Game of Thrones Season 8 will effectively show who will end up on the Iron Throne, if there still is one at the end of the HBO series. However, Martin has somehow teased that the TV show will have a completely different ending from the book series. Let's just hope that he eventually announced that he has finished The Winds of Winter sometime in the near future.

Martin's new novel Fire and Blood will be released on November 20. Game of Thrones Season 8 will air on HBO in 2019. The Winds of Winter release date is still a great mystery.
