Game of Thrones Creator George R.R. Martin Teases on Completely New Ending in His Book Series

Are you still unhappy with the way Game of Thrones Season 8 ended? George R.R. Martin may have some good news for you. The A Song of Ice and Fire author has just confirmed that his book series will have a completely different conclusion.

Martin recently spoke to Welt about his new book The Winds of Winter although he was also asked whether A Song of Ice and Fire will end in the same way that the HBO series concluded. Interestingly, the writer stated that readers can expect something different in the novels.

"People know an end - not the end," Martin said. "The makers of the TV series have overtaken me, which I didn't expect."

This is great news for fans who were hoping that the books will have a satisfying conclusion. However, Martin also pointed out that he's still working on the last two books of his A Song of Ice and Fire series.

"I still continue with what I've been doing for years: I still try to finish the next book The Winds of Winter first and then the follow-up novel A Dream of Spring. These are the things that I focus on. Then we'll see further," he said.

This sounds like something we should all look forward to. However, fans will need to wait a little longer to see how it will all end. Martin is still working on The Winds of Winter and it may take some time before he could begin writing A Dream of Spring. Nevertheless, it's beginning to sound like it will be worth the wait.

The Winds of Winter is expected to be published in 2020.
