Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 Recap: A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Is Here

The second episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 certainly ended up being a little early due to a leak but it was certainly worth the wait. With all the small talk and delayed reunions out of the way, it's finally time to face the White Walkers. But first, let's look back at the story so far.

Spoilers Ahead! You Have Been Warned!

The second episode opens with Jaime Lannister facing trial in front of Daenerys Targaryen, who was ready to bark "Dracarys" all over again. We can't blame her. She had to find out Cersei Lannister had betrayed them through the man who killed her father. However, Tyrion Lannister and Brienne of Tarth defended Jaime and Brienne's word is good enough for Sansa Stark. As for Jon Snow, he just needs more men to join the fight. Unfortunately, Dany will have to barbecue Jaime some other time. Meanwhile, she vents her frustration on Tyrion, threatening to remove him as Hand of the Queen.

Gendry is certainly busy with creating more dragonglass weapons but Arya Stark wants to chat. She wants him to work on her weapon right now and wonders what the White Walkers are like. He doesn't want to indulge her but she starts throwing daggers at a wall. Needless to say, that weapon's getting done ASAP.

Bran Stark broods at Godswood and it's now time for a little exchange with Jaime who wants to apologize. Bran seems to forgive him, but only because they are different people now. When Jaime asks why he didn't tell anyone about the whole pushing down the tower thing in Season 1, Bran tells him he wouldn't be much help if he were dead. As Jon said, they need all the help they can get.

Tyrion and Jaime's reunion is quick but features a strange conversation. Jaime questions whether Dany will be a good leader but Tyrion insists he knows she's different. Oh, and Jaime confirms that Cersei's pregnancy is real.

Jaime then sets off to reunite with Brienne and makes sure to avoid insulting her. Definitely a sign of growth right there but Brienne isn't convinced. Nevertheless, Jaime tells her he wants to serve under her command.

Dany speaks to Jorah Mormont who convinces her not to fire Tyrion. He also asks her to talk to Sansa, and although it starts out pretty well when Dany admits she's in love with Jon, it quickly turns sour again. When Sansa asks what happens after the battle against the dead and Cersei, Dany quickly states she'll take the Iron Throne. Oops, wrong answer. "What about the North? It was taken from us, and we took it back, and we said we'd never bow to anyone else again," Sansa says. "What about the North?"

Dany doesn't have an answer to that, especially since they are interrupted. Theon Greyjoy has arrived in Winterfell telling Dany that Yara Greyjoy is taking back the Iron Islands in her name. When asked why he has returned, Theon turns to Sansa and asks to fight for Winterfell. Sansa immediately embraces him.

More people arriving. Dolorous Edd, Tormund Giantsbane, and Beric Dondarrion make it to Winterfell to tell Jon about what happened at Last Hearth. Tormund says the dead will arrive before the sun comes up tomorrow but he has one major concern: "The big woman still here?"

Time for a meeting. Everyone gathers to discuss their defenses and Bran reveals that the Night King will come for him. They agree to allow Bran to wait for the Night King at the Godswood with Theon and the Ironborn. "I took this castle from you," Theon says to Bran. "Let me defend you now."

There's a sweet exchange between Missandei and Grey Worm as they plan their lives after the great battle. It's certainly ominous but we're hoping that they manage to survive the next episode.

Finally, Ghost is back and the last men of the Night's Watch talk for a bit. Also, it's nice to be reminded of everything Samwell Tarly has accomplished in the past seven seasons.

Tyrion and Jaime are joined by Brienne and Podrick, followed by Ser Davos Seaworth and Tormund. It's an entertaining collection and one that leads to Tormund revealing why he's called Giantsbane. The look on Brienne's face alone is totally worth it.

Arya reunites with the Hound and Beric. It is revealed that Beric is no longer in Arya's list. Also, she has no time for old men and sets off for some better company. Arya finally gets her weapon from Gendry and well, a whole lot more.

Going back to the company having wine, Brienne reveals to Tormund that she isn't a knight. Luckily, Jaime is here to fix that. He knights Brienne as Tormund applauds.

Here's a reunion worth talking about. Jorah finally catches up with Lyanna Mormont and tries to persuade her not to join the battle. Of course, she's not having any of it but does wish her cousin good fortune. It's the perfect time for Sam to swoop in and present his sword Heartsbane to Jorah, who gladly takes it.

The White Walkers are definitely nearby but wait, where's the Night King?

The second episode title has been revealed to be A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms which is certainly fitting considering it was the one scene that truly stood out. Oh, but there's so much to look forward to in the next episode.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 will air on HBO on April 28.
