Former Solo: A Star Wars Story Directors Possibly Admitted They Were Glad To Be Fired

Being fired from a major project usually isn't something to be happy about. However, former Solo: A Star Wars Story directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller may have revealed that their exit from the film was something that they openly welcomed.

Lord and Miller recently spoke to io9 about stepping away from Solo and being given the chance to focus on their other projects Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Interestingly, the directors revealed that they didn't mind being removed from the Star Wars film because they were able to commit to two movies that they actually wanted to work on.

"Obviously we were able to spend a lot of time on these movies and it's, I think, our good luck that we got to spend so much time making movies we care about," Lord said.

Miller immediately added, "And, you know, we were really passionate about both of these films and it was a real opportunity for us to be able to really dig in on both of them and be really involved in every aspect of the production."

Lord and Miller were working on Solo at the same time as LEGO Movie 2, which they both wrote. Lord was also co-writing Spider-Verse at roughly the same time before they were removed from the Star Wars film. Needless to say, it all worked out fine since Spider-Verse earned a Best Animated Feature nomination at the 91st Academy Awards while LEGO Movie 2 is currently one of the most anticipated flicks of the year.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part will premiere on February 8.
