Former Doctor Strange 2 Director Confirms Involvement in MCU Sequel

Fans have already accepted that Scott Derrickson will no longer helm Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and that the project will now be directed by Sam Raimi. However, it looks like Derrickson is still going to be involved with the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel.

Derrickson recently posted on his official Twitter account to explain that although he is no longer "an MCU source", he still has some form of involvement with Doctor Strange 2. Take a look at his tweet below.

"I'm not an MCU source anymore. I'm just a distant Executive Producer on (the great) Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange sequel— a choice I made and am hella happy with," Derrickson wrote. He then added that he is already working on a new project that is just as exciting as the Marvel flick.

"I'm now making @joe_hill 's The Black Phone for @UniversalPics and @blumhouse adapted by me & @Massawyrm," Derrickson pointed out.

This certainly sounds like an exciting new project for Derrickson. Nevertheless, some fans can't help but wonder what could have been if he remained with Doctor Strange 2. On the other hand, the idea of Raimi working on the sequel is also an amazing plan.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will bring back Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorceror Supreme and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch. The sequel has already begun production this November and is then scheduled for release on March 25, 2022.
