Fantastic Beasts Films Might Conclude in an HBO Max Limited Series

There is little doubt that the production of Fantastic Beasts 3 has been delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak. However, the future might not be looking good for the Harry Potter franchise. A new report suggests that Warner Bros. might decide to cancel the remaining movies and turn it into a limited series that will air on HBO Max.

The third installment of the Fantastic Beasts movie series was expected to begin production earlier this year but has been delayed by the COVID-19 shutdowns. Although it is currently one of the major projects that are set to resume filming in the UK this month, there might be a bigger problem for the franchise in the long run.

It is believed that Warner Bros. is beginning to be concerned about the Fantastic Beasts films not being to make enough at the box office due to the poor performance of the second movie. In addition to that, author J.K. Rowling's previous controversy may have convinced even the most loyal Harry Potter fan to avoid the movies. With that in mind, the studio might decide to cancel the franchise.

That's not the only available option for Warner Bros. as We Got This Covered suggests that the studio could choose to conclude the story in a limited series that will air on HBO Max. In the meantime, there have been no confirmations about the plans for Fantastic Beasts so it's best to take this with a grain of salt.
