The recent revelation about Claudia Kim's character in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald certainly resulted in some major backlash. However, Ezra Miller is defending his co-star because he believes that she is the perfect actress to portray Nagini in her human form.
Entertainment Weekly recently spoke to Kim, who offered some details about how she auditioned for the role. Although she had some difficulties, the Avengers: Age of Ultron star was ultimately chosen to portray the Maledictus in Fantastic Beasts 2. Kim's ethnicity was not a big deal to the cast and crew since she proved to be an amazing actress who could handle the challenging role. Miller is a strong believer that people will realize this once they see the film.
"Claudia Kim is a living god," the Justice League star stated. "You're about to get your head blown off. There's going to be a venom in your veins that you'll feel just like love. Prepare yourselves for Nagini. This is a tragic and beautiful story that in some ways we already know the end of."
We have yet to see Kim's performance as Voldemort's snake but the final trailer has suggested that she will be going through some rough situations. Nevertheless, the Marco Polo star insists that we'll see a different side of Nagini this November.
"You've only seen her as Horcrux. In this, she's a wonderful and vulnerable woman who wants to live, she wants to stay a human being and I think that's a wonderful contrast to the character," Kim said.
The sequel brings back Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, and Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein. Johnny Depp will reprise his role as the titular Grindelwald who may or may not face Jude Law's Albus Dumbledore.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will premiere on November 16.
