E3: Marvel's Avengers A-Day Trailer Reveals The Death Of Captain America

Square Enix has finally dropped the official trailer for Marvel's Avengers at E3 and it looks like the new action-adventure game will revolve around a major tragedy. The teaser confirms that the team will lose Captain America.

The trailer opens with a young woman looking back at what happened on Avengers Day or "A-Day". Although the event started out with Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, and Hulk revealing the hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco and their new helicarrier, it didn't take long for disaster to strike.

It is unclear who it was that planned the attack on A-Day but it had two devastating results: the Golden Gate Bridge is destroyed and Captain America is killed during the fight. To make matters worse, the remaining Avengers are blamed for the catastrophe. However, that doesn't mean that the fight is over for the team.

The description for the new game reads as follows:

"Marvel's Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth's Mightiest Heroes."

The new Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix game was developed by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Eidos-Montréal, Nixxes Software, and Crystal Northwest. Marvel's Avengers will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox, and PC on May 15, 2020.
