Doom Patrol Gets Season 2 Renewal, Series To Air On DC Universe And HBO Max

We're getting more weirdness in 2020. Doom Patrol has just been renewed for a second season and the quirky DC series is set to premiere in two different platforms next year.

The renewal was confirmed at the DC Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 and it's certainly welcome news for fans who have been concerned about the show's future (via Screenrant). Interestingly, it was also revealed that Doom Patrol Season 2 will air on DC Universe as well as HBO Max, the new WarnerMedia streaming service that will launch in early 2020.

There's a good reason why people were worried about Doom Patrol Season 2 being cancelled. After all, Swamp Thing was cancelled right after the premiere of its first episode and production for the second season of Titans has been halted due to a tragedy. Although we're still hoping for some good news about the two other DC Universe shows, we're just relieved that we haven't seen the last of the delightfully weird Doom Patrol.

So what can we expect in the second season? The previous season finale already dealt with Mr. Nobody, Ezekiel the Cockroach, and Admiral Whiskers. However, it might be time to learn more about Niles Caulder's daughter Dorothy Spinner.

The series stars Brendan Fraser as Robotman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Matt Bomer as Negative Man, and Timothy Dalton as Niles Caulder. It's still unclear if Alan Tudyk will return as Mr. Nobody in the second season.

Doom Patrol Season 2 has not been given an official release date but is expected to premiere on DC Universe and HBO Max in 2020.
