Doctor Strange 2 Might Begin Filming In Late 2018

It looks like the follow-up to Avengers 4 will actually begin production later this year. One of the stars of Doctor Strange 2 has teased that they will start filming the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel in 2018.

Benedict Wong recently made an appearance at Fan Expo Vancouver where he confirmed that he will reprise his role as Stephen Strange's ally in Doctor Strange 2 (via ComicBook.com). In addition to that, the Deadly Class star revealed that he will start working on the sequel by the end of the year.

This is certainly exciting news for fans who have been waiting for a Doctor Strange sequel. Although Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme ended up turning to dust in Avengers: Infinity War, there have been talks about the character returning for a second solo film. In addition to that, director Scott Derrickson has been vocal about wanting to work with Cumberbatch and Wong once again.

The early production start could also mean that Doctor Strange 2 will be the first MCU flick after the highly awaited Avengers 4. It could mean that Stephen will be one of the main characters who will headline the new Big Three once Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Hemsworth retire from their roles as Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor, respectively.

Although we are truly hoping that Doctor Strange 2 will begin production soon, it is important to point out that the update has not yet been confirmed by Marvel Studios. For now, it would be best to take the news with a grain of salt.

The next MCU flick is Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, which will hit theaters on March 8, 2019. It will be followed by the still-untitled Avengers 4, which is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
