There is little doubt that Mike Flanagan is a genius who knows how to bring Stephen King's works to life. After working on Gerald's Game, the director also helmed the terrifying adaptation of Doctor Sleep. Not surprisingly, Flanagan has found yet another horror story from King to work on.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Flanagan will reunite with Doctor Sleep producer Trevor Macy on the adaptation of King's novel Revival for Warner Bros. Flanagan will pen the script along with "an option to direct" the project. He and Macy will produce the adaptation through their company Intrepid Pictures.

Interestingly, Flanagan had previously teased that he has discussed a project with King. Although people were hoping that it would be a sequel to Doctor Sleep, it looks like the discussion has led to an adaptation of Revival instead.

Revival was published in 2014 and focuses on "a dubious faith healer" who becomes obsessed with communicating with his dead wife and child. Unfortunately, his efforts unleash something more sinister that could destroy the tiny Maine hamlet.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time that an adaptation of Revival has been attempted. The New Mutants director Josh Boone was supposed to work on the project but this has reportedly been stalled.

The film has not yet been given an official release date but there could be more updates on the project soon. In the meantime, Flanagan and Macy's upcoming project is the highly anticipated The Haunting of Blyth Manor, which is the follow-up to the wildly successful Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House.
