Disney Brings Back James Gunn As Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Director

It looks like fans are finally getting exactly what they wanted. Disney has just reinstated James Gunn as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the House of Mouse has decided to bring back the Guardians of the Galaxy director to work on the highly anticipated sequel. Disney and Marvel Studios have not yet given an official statement about Gunn's return to the project.

Needless to say, people are loving the news and are celebrating on behalf of Gunn.

Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 back in July 2018 after his old offensive tweets were discovered. Although Gunn had issued an apology regarding the tweets, Disney remained firm about the firing. Gunn's removal from the project put GOTGV3 on hold for several months although the film was supposed to begin production in 2018.

People have been truly supportive of Gunn after the firing. The cast and crew of the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies even signed a letter in support of the director. Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, has been the most vocal supporter, lashing out at Disney for firing Gunn.

It certainly looks like Gunn is in for a busy year. In addition to working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, he is also writing and directing the DC Extended Universe sequel Suicide Squad 2. Needless to say, we are all happy that Gunn is back and can't wait to see more of his films in the near future.
