Deadpool 2 Director Wants To Work On Blade Reboot With Mahershala Ali

One of the most exciting things that was announced at the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con was undoubtedly the Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali. Although the film has yet to be given an official release date, people are already wondering who will direct the highly anticipated remake. Interestingly, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch has expressed interest in working with the Academy Award-winning star on the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick.

Leitch recently spoke to Screen Rant while promoting his new film Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and he somehow admitted that he has always been a huge fan of Blade. After all, he was in the first film that starred Wesley Snipes.

"I love Blade. And it's actually one of the first stunt jobs that I was in, the original Wesley Snipes one. I was a stunt performer in that movie. I was in the blood club. Do you remember that scene? Yes, dancing around in the recycled special effects blood. It was great," Leitch revealed.

But is Leitch interested in working with the new Blade? Like, duh.

"Mahershala is such a great actor, and I've been fortunate to work with some great actors, and I never go wrong that way. Having him play that role is a big deal and would be really exciting. So, yeah, I would love to have that conversation," Leitch said.

I'll have to admit, the idea of Leitch directing the Blade reboot is something I would really like to see. After all, this is the guy who made the first John Wick film as well as Charlize Theron's action-packed Atomic Blonde. Leitch might be the best filmmaker out there for the project and I'm hoping that Marvel Studios makes it happen.
