Chris Hemsworth Might Not Return As Thor After Avengers: Endgame

It's a depressing idea, but there is a huge possibility that Avengers: Endgame could be the last Marvel Cinematic Universe film for most of our beloved characters. So is it possible that we will be saying goodbye to Thor this year? A new report suggests that Chris Hemsworth will be walking away from the MCU after the highly anticipated sequel.

The report comes from We Got This Covered, who got their information from an unnamed source. According to the source, Endgame is set to be Hemsworth's final outing as Thor. Although it was suggested that the Thor: Ragnarok actor might reprise his role as the Odinson in future MCU movies, they also pointed out that it probably won't happen soon.

This is certainly devastating news for fans who have been following Thor's story arc for several years. The character has gone through so much in the past few movies and we're certainly hoping his story gets a fitting conclusion. Will Thor reunite with a resurrected Loki and work on rebuilding Asgard? We're looking forward to it this April.

Hemsworth isn't the only one who could be leaving the MCU. It was previously reported that Mark Ruffalo will also retire from being Bruce Banner/The Hulk in Endgame. In addition to that, there are speculations that Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. will not renew their contracts with Marvel Studios.

The synopsis for Endgame reads as follows:

"Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War, with half of the universe killed in an event dubbed 'The Decimation', the universe lies in shambles and the remaining Avengers and their allies must reassemble to repair the damage caused by Thanos and bring harmony back to the universe."

Avengers: Endgame is scheduled for release on April 26.
