There is little doubt that Charlize Theron is one of the most celebrated actors in the industry today. After all, the Mad Max: Fury Road star has proven her acting chops as well as her versatility with a truly impressive career. But what are the chances that Theron would eventually join the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The star of The Old Guard has finally addressed the possibility of playing a Marvel comic book hero.
Theron was recently a guest on The Big Ticket podcast to promote her new Netflix film (via Variety). Since she will be playing a character from a graphic novel in the movie, it was inevitable that Theron would be asked if she had considered joining the MCU. However, it looks like Marvel Studios isn't exactly interested in Theron just yet.
"I swear to God. I've never gotten anything," Theron said when asked whether she had been contacted by Marvel. "No, I'm not lying to you."
Interestingly, Theron is taking the Marvel snub quite easily. "That's okay. You know what? I am paving my own way. I'm creating my own opportunities. So it's alright," she said.
We're actually in shock that Marvel has never called Theron to appear in any of the MCU projects. On the other hand, there is no shortage of cool projects for the actress so fans can expect to see more of Theron in the future.
Theron will appear in The Old Guard, which premieres on Netflix on July 10.
