Captain Marvel Finally Reveals How Nick Fury Lost His Eye

We all have our theories on how Nick Fury lost his eye. However, the truth is finally revealed in Captain Marvel.

Spoilers Ahead! You Have Been Warned!

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Nick Fury famously declared that "last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye." Since then, people have been wondering who had betrayed Fury's trust. Not surprisingly, we get to find out who the culprit is in Captain Marvel.

If you're one of those people who has been betting that Goose the cat is responsible for the maiming, you're absolutely right. In one scene, the alien feline actually scratched Fury's eye. Although the rookie SHIELD agent initially believes it can be salvaged, he later realizes that there's no going back. That should teach him not to mess with a cat that's... well, not really a cat.

Goose is certainly a scene stealer in Captain Marvel. People have been declaring their love for the cat, who ends up being the perfect companion for Carol Danvers. The new featurette even honors Goose as being the perfect co-star for both Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson. Although Jackson initially believes Larson is talking about him, she reveals that she was actually referring to Goose. Needless to say, the alien feline is the one to watch out for in Captain Marvel.

The synopsis for Captain Marvel reads as follows:

"Set in 1995, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with questions about her past and identity when Earth is caught in the center of a galactic conflict between two alien worlds."

Catch Goose in action when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8.
