Brandon Routh Confirms Legends of Tomorrow Exit Wasn't His Idea

There is little doubt that Brandon Routh's exit from Legends of Tomorrow is one of the most disappointing things that was confirmed last year. However, it looks like the former Arrow star wasn't quite ready to leave the CW series just yet. Routh has revealed that saying goodbye to Ray Palmer wasn't his idea in the first place.

Routh recently posted a couple of images on his official Instagram account showing himself and Legends co-star Nick Zano. The caption pointed out that there are "not too many episodes left," teasing at his exit. Check it out below.

Not surprisingly, one fan urged Routh that he "could just change your mind and not leave, Brandon." The former star of The Flash had an interesting response to that.

"Not my choice," Routh wrote along with a sad face emoji. The answer immediately upset fans since it sounded like the producers had chosen to write Routh's character out of Legends of Tomorrow instead of choosing to keep Ray in the series.

Routh had previously released a statement about his departure but did not reveal the reason why he was leaving the show.

"I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to bring the big-hearted and humorous Ray Palmer to life for our fans over the last 5 years, but unfortunately, his storyline is pointed in another direction," Routh told Deadline. "I'm saddened to see Ray's journey end for now but wish my Legends family well."

For now, it is unclear why the producers decided to end Ray's story. Nevertheless, we're looking forward to seeing how it will all end for The Atom.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 airs on The CW every Tuesday nights.
