There is little doubt that people are already excited about Diablo IV. After all, the upcoming title's cinematic trailer was truly stunning and teased on the arrival of a truly terrifying boss to face. So when exactly are we getting the new game? Blizzard has just offered a new update on the title's release date but it isn't very promising.
Blizzard posted a quarterly update on Diablo 4 which includes just about everything from the team playtest, storytelling, and multiplayer option. Interestingly, it was also confirmed that, like everyone else, the development has been affected by COVID-19.
"As is the case with many other game and technology companies at the time of writing this, the Diablo IV team has fully transitioned to working from home. While the transition has introduced challenges, we feel very fortunate to be able to keep momentum going strong on the development of Diablo IV," the update reads.
While the update sounds hopeful, it is also revealed that the game is still in its very early stages.
"Of course, we still have a lot of work ahead of us and to be clear, we are not at an Alpha or Beta stage yet. We don’t typically discuss our early milestones publicly during the course of development, but we think it’s especially important to continue to share our progress during a year without a BlizzCon," the update continues.
If the title isn't even in the Alpha stage yet, there's a huge possibility that it will take even longer for its release. Although we're not getting a release date just yet, it's good to know that the team is working hard at bringing it to us sooner.
