Black Widow Star William Hurt Reveals Thunderbolt Ross' True Motives

We already know that General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross will be out to capture Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow. But why exactly is he so determined to bring in the former Avenger? William Hurt has just revealed his Marvel Cinematic Universe character's true intentions and it has a lot to do with Ross' history with another Avenger.

Hurt was interviewed for Black Widow: The Official Movie Special Book where the veteran actor spoke about Ross' mindset. Not surprisingly, it has actually been affected by what he went through with the Avengers.

"Well, his ego has to match the muscles of Hulk. I do think about that fatigue setting in after he just made this big move to control the Avengers, and it created a huge problem and a huge rift," Hurt said. He then added that Ross' experience with Bruce Banner had an effect on the general.

"I think in Ross' head he's probably a self-fantasizing person. I think he imagined, back when he was contending with Hulk, that he was the conquering soldier going around the world, but things have gotten more complex and difficult," Hurt said.

Hurt continued by stating that all these have led to Ross to consider the capture of Nat as the only way he could fight back.

"There's always a sense of dignity to what he's doing, but I think he's the soldier on the last hill at this point," he said. "He's surrounded and he's just trying to protect his way of life. The way he can strike back against the changing world would be by capturing Natasha Romanoff."

Ross certainly is a force to reckon with and it would be interesting to see what he will do just to get to Natasha. With that in mind, we can't wait to see him in action next year.

Black Widow will premiere on May 7, 2021.
