Black Adam Reportedly Wants 'Sam Rockwell' Type to Play Doctor Fate

We already have most of the important roles filled in the upcoming Black Adam film but DC has yet to announce who will be playing Doctor Fate and Cyclone. Although we already know Warner Bros. is looking for a particular type to play the latter, the studio might also have big plans for Doctor Fate. A new report reveals that DC is hoping to cast someone like Sam Rockwell to play the member of the Justice Society of America.

The report from The Illuminerdi reveals that the casting team of Black Adam is "currently searching for a male in their 30's to play Doctor Fate/Kent Nelson." Although these were the only details shared about the casting call, it was also suggested that the studio is hoping to cast someone similar to Rockwell who could easily play the two sides of the character.

Doctor Fate should be an interesting character to introduce in the DC Extended Universe due to his duality. After all, the character is a "kind academic" who switches into a "terrifying force of nature who sounds and acts totally different." With that in mind, Rockwell would be a great choice although he might be over the age requirement.

For now, there haven't been any updates on who Warner Bros. has their eye on to play Doctor Fate. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Black Adam will star Dwayne Johnson as the titular antihero, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, and Sarah Shahi in a mystery role that is believed to be Isis. The movie is expected to begin filming in Spring next year.
