There is little doubt that Avengers: Endgame will finally reveal how the heroes will defeat Thanos. But is it possible that the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe flick will also set up an upcoming Secret Invasion film?

The idea comes from a new fan theory that was posted on Reddit. Interestingly, it purports that Captain Marvel will somehow be involved in the invasion. In the post, it is suggested that the scene where Carol Danvers is being tortured might be from the post-credits scene and Nick Fury's message ends up in the wrong hands.

"What happened after Fury paged Danvers just before turning to dust is that when he contacted her, she had been captured. The Skrull(s) on guard notice her pager light up. They track the signal to Earth, and then they decide to take Danvers` form as Captain Marvel. The one who takes her form stages an 'escape from a whole Skrull army' by inflicting mild self-harm, and lightly damaging a pod, and set course for Earth."

The theory goes on to report that Not-Carol will manage to help the Avengers in Endgame but her real identity will be revealed in the post-credit sequence.

"That`s where the post credit scene for Avengers 4 would come in, as we see 'Captain Marvel' in an empty room smile, as her face morphs into a Skrull`s face and says, 'Let the invasion begin,'" they wrote.

It's certainly an interesting theory that hints that the future of MCU. However, it's also depressing to think that the first female superhero who gets her own movie will end up being sidelined by the Skrulls. We're hoping this doesn't happen so we recommend taking the information with a grain of salt.

Captain Marvel will premiere on March 8, 2019. Avengers: Endgame crashes into theaters on April 26, 2019.
