Avengers 4 Director Insists They 'Fired Mark Ruffalo' For Major Spoilers

Mark Ruffalo's recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon was undoubtedly part of the ongoing gag of how the Avengers: Infinity War star continues to spoil the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. However, Avengers 4 director Joe Russo still insists that they had actually fired Ruffalo for his antics.

Ruffalo's Tonight Show episode featured the actor "revealing" the Avengers 4 title as well as acting out some "key scenes" from the film. The so-called "spoilers" were conveniently bleeped out from the show. Nevertheless, the Russo Brothers tweeted out a terse response to the gag: "Mark, you're fired." In addition to that, Joe Russo still wants the world to know they were serious about the firing.

Joe recently hosted a Q&A at the Duello Bar in Los Angeles where he answered queries about Avengers 4 (via ComicBook.com). When asked how the Russo brothers can prevent Ruffalo and fellow spoiler king Tom Holland from revealing too much, Joe's bartender reminded the director that they had actually fired Ruffalo.

"Yes, we fired Mark Ruffalo. Mark's fired," Joe confirmed.

Of course, this is just part of the ongoing gag but it might also hint at Bruce Banner's future in the MCU. There's a possibility that Ruffalo will no longer reprise his role as the Hulk after Avengers 4. However, we're still hoping that we'll see more of Ruffalo in the future.

Ruffalo has already completed work on Avengers 4. The sequel is scheduled for release on May 3, 2019.
