Fans are still hoping that the casualties of Avengers: Infinity War will somehow get resurrected this year. However, Anthony Mackie has just confirmed that Falcon will not be returning in Avengers: Endgame.
Mackie was recently a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where he pretty much confirmed that Sam Wilson is dead and he has to move on from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Well, obviously, if you didn’t see Part Three, spoiler alert, I died. A lot of people died. So I’m gainfully unemployed. And that’s why I’m doing other movies now,” Mackie said.
Of course, no one is buying it considering that there are several theories on how the victims of Thanos' snap will be brought back to life. However, Mackie has been working on a lot of other projects so it might also confirm that Falcon is officially gone.
Mackie is certainly a busy man. His Netflix movie IO is currently streaming on Netflix and his new action film Miss Bala with Gina Rodriguez drops today. He will also appear in the live-action adaptation of A.J. Finn's novel The Woman in the Window and has reunited with Captain America: Civil War co-star Frank Grillo in Point Blank. Mackie is currently working on the drama The Banker with Samuel L. Jackson and Nicholas Hoult. In addition to that, he's been confirmed to take over as Takeshi Kovacs in the second season of Altered Carbon.
So does this mean Falcon will not make an appearance in Endgame? There's still a possibility that Mackie will take over as the new Captain America this year. After all, Chris Evans' Steve Rogers is already expected to pass the mantle to his successor. Sam could be the next Captain America of the MCU but this is all based on speculations so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.
Find out if Falcon will be back when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26.
