Altered Carbon Star Says Playing Misty Knight Helped Her Get New Role in Netflix Series

Most people are probably still bummed about Luke Cage being cancelled. However, it looks like Simone Missick doesn't mind that much anymore. After all, the former Marvel star credits her role as Misty Knight for helping her land a new job in Altered Carbon Season 2.

Missick recently spoke to io9 to discuss her new role as Tress in the second season of the cyberpunk series. Interestingly, the star of The Defenders revealed that she somehow promoted herself to getting the job during a conversation with someone from Netflix.

"I get a call from one of the Netflix execs to say, ‘You know, we're so sad that Luke Cage got cancelled. Hopefully, we'll be working with you soon.' And I said, ‘You know, I actually just put myself on tape for this Altered Carbon job, so hopefully I get that. And she's like, ‘That's my show.' I said, ‘Oh, really?' She said, ‘Yeah, it is. We'll be seeing you soon,'" Missick shared.

That's not a bad way to get a job. Luckily for Missick, her performance as Misty in Luke Cage was truly impressive and it made her the perfect candidate to play a character like Tress.

Altered Carbon Season 2 will also introduce The Falcon and The Winter Soldier actor Anthony Mackie as Takeshi Kovacs' new sleeve. In addition to Missick, the new cast members include Dina Shihabi as Dig 301, Torben Liebrecht as Colonel Ivan Carrera, James Saito as Tanaseda Hideki, and Lela Loren as Danica Harlan. The series is currently streaming on Netflix.
