Agents Of SHIELD Season 7 Confirmed, [SPOILER] Possibly Not Returning

We're still waiting for Agents of SHIELD Season 6 but it looks like the beloved show has already been confirmed for a seventh season. Unfortunately, a key character might not be returning to the ABC series.

According to TVLine, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey confirmed Agents of SHIELD Season 7. The press release for the sixth season revealed that Chloe Bennet, Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward will reprise their roles in the show. However, there is no mention of Clark Gregg, who has led the series for the past five seasons.

So does this mean that Agent Phil Coulson will not be back next year? After all, the character seemed to have decided to step down from his duties. Nevertheless, there are speculations that Gregg will appear as a special guest star sometime in the future. He is also expected to direct some of the new episodes. Let's hope that Agent Coulson will still be showing up to help the team.

Although Agent Coulson's future is unclear, we can confirm that Quake will be getting a new look in the sixth season. Bennet has previously shared her character's awesome new appearance on Twitter. Take a look at her post below.

Gregg might not be returning in Agents of SHIELD but he's still a busy man. He is set to reprise his role as Agent Coulson in next year's Captain Marvel. The character has been digitally de-aged since the Marvel Cinematic Universe film actually takes place in the 90s.

Captain Marvel will premiere on March 8, 2019. Agents of SHIELD Season 6 is expected to air on ABC in Summer 2019.
