Nintendo Announces Tournament For Super Smash Bros. On Switch

Nintendo fans everywhere rejoiced when Super Smash Bros. was announced for the Switch. Fans have been debating about whether it will be a brand new game or a port of the Wii U version, with all of the DLC and new characters like the Inklings from Splatoon.

It looks like we'll be finding out soon, as Nintendo has announced a tournament for the new Super Smash Bros. this coming June. There will also be a tournament for Splatoon 2 but it's clear that fans will be paying more attention to Smash, given its lineage.

The press release from Nintendo calls it the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018. This will be the debut of the anticipated fighting game, which has many fans excited. Unfortunately, we still don't know if this will be a port with new characters or a new game but fans are hoping for the latter.

Fans will remember how the Wii U version of Smash was also revealed through a tournament as well. Nintendo knows that a lot of fans will be paying attention to this tournament, given all of the hype that the fighter has. Hopefully, we will also see a new release date since the title has a vague 2018 window thus far.

Expect the new Smash Bros. sometime this year.
