Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Is Happy That Game Of Thrones Is Ending

After tonight, Game of Thrones season seven would be airing its last episode, and the series will have only one season left, much to the dismay of fans. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jamie Lannister on the show, gives his two cents about the series ending, and thinks it's the best time to finally end the series.

In an interview with Collider, Coster-Waldau comments:

"Of course, the people I work with. When you've spent so many years working together, you make friends. I'm going to miss that. We've been going to Belfast every year, and there are great people there. At the same time, I think it's a good thing we're ending. The story is coming to an end, which is very satisfying. I'm sure HBO would have loved to have done another few seasons, but I really respect Dan [Weiss] and David [Benioff], the writers, for saying, ‘No, this is it. This is how long it's going to be.' I'm going to miss the people and I'm going to miss that annual journey to Belfast, but at the same time, it's going to be nice to go on and do something else."

Of course, HBO has already announced that it's planning several other GoT spinoffs after the end of this series, but there isn't really any guarantee if they'll find the same success that Game of Thrones has reached. Others think that HBO's Westworld was supposed to be a means to replace one of HBO's masthead shows by the time GoT ended.

While Game of Thrones has certainly done a good deal of making the actors on the show recognized, it's also necessary that the show cut off before it dragged out the story too much. Everyone knows how hard it is for actors to find new work without being typecast. Just ask the actors of the original Star Trek series.
