Nicolas Cage Talks Playing Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

So far, the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trailers have given us a look at three different Spider-people, but it has been confirmed a while back that Nicolas Cage will be voicing Spider-Man Noir. Cage talks a bit about his taking on the role and says that his performance was inspired by old Hollywood actor Humphrey Bogart.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Cage explains:

"I tried to channel those noir films with [Humphrey] Bogart, and have those kinds of sounds that he might make with [James] Cagney, or Edward G. Robinson, that kind of way of talking. I tried to give the character that. It was a lot of fun. I think it should be quite funny. The movie definitely has a sense of humor, and that's a good thing because it's good for the whole family."

Just in case you don't know what Bogart sounded like, here's a clip of him from Casablanca:

I think the choice to get inspiration from old actors was a great one when it came to playing Spider-Man Noir, and I can't wait to see what he looks like in the actual film. Besides Noir, another Spider-person confirmed for the movie is Spider-Ham, and he'll be voiced by comedian John Mulaney.

This is the second comic book character that Nic Cage will be bringing to life this year. Last month, we heard Cage provide his voice for Superman in Teen Titans GO to the Movies. Cage may not have played Superman in that failed 90s film, but at least he got to be the Last Son of Krypton in some way.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters Dec. 14.
