Zachary Levi Starts Work on Shazam!
It looks like we’re going to be getting more Shazam news in the near future, as lead star Zachary Levi has confirmed that he will start filming his scenes. This is great news since it could lead to the first official image of Levi in the character’s costume, something fans have wanted to see since he was announced for the role.
Levi confirmed that he would be heading to Toronto, where the next DCEU installment will be filmed. The Shazam actor announced this on Instagram via a quick live-stream and can be seen in the Tweet below. In a way, it shows how fast, yet efficient the film’s production is, especially since some new casting announcements were made recently.

Considering how loved the character is and the weird state the DCEU is in after Justice League ended up being a massive disappointment, fans are hoping Shazam breathes some life into the cinematic universe. Some of this pressure will also be felt in next year’s Aquaman, with many hoping Jason Momoa has the chops to carry his superhero film.
It also looks like Levi is excited about his role, which is a huge step up from being a supporting character in the second and third Thor films. While Levi will be playing as Shazam, Disney Channel star Asher Angel will be playing Billy Batson, the young boy who transforms into this superhero.
Shazam is slated for an April 5, 2019, release.
