World of Warcraft Pays Tribute to Stan Lee

It's almost been two months since Stan Lee left us and the hole in that wound hasn't completely healed. The man was both an icon and a controversial figure in comics, co-creating some of the most well-known characters in movies today whilst also stealing a lot of the credit that should have gone to his artists.

With all that being said, Stan did often try and compliment the artists he worked with, which is more than what Bob Kane ever did for Bill Finger, and he still left a legacy that fans can love without feeling guilty.

This is why fans might get choked up when they boot up their World of Warcraft accounts and go to Stormwind as they will encounter a man named Stanley. He looks just like Stan, is a part of The Alliance, and shouts "Excelsior," just like Stan himself. It's a very touching tribute and one that might convince Marvel fans to make a World of Warcraft account.

Reported by WowHead, the Alliance version of Stanley isn't the only one around, as fans have uncovered models in the new update that have neutral colors and Horde gear. It's a nice thing to do since anyone can have a Stanley on their side, which is really nice. Who would want to be against Stan Lee? Aside from DC Comics of course.

World of Warcraft has paid tribute to dead celebrities before, most noticeably with Robin Williams. The late comedian was an avid video game fan, even naming his daughter after Zelda from The Legend of Zelda. It's something the developers didn't have to do at all so the fact that they put this much effort is nice.
