Wolverine Goes Solo (Again) in Brand-New Ongoing Series Coming Next Year

Now that House of X and Powers of X have made the Marvel universe a much more advanced and interesting world for mutants, fans are looking forward to the mainline mutant books once again. We have X-Men, New Mutants, Fallen Angels, X-Force, Excalibur, and Marauders, which were announced not too long after the launch of House of X and Powers of X. Thanks to New York Comic-Con (NYCC) we now know the first solo Dawn of X comic and it's, unsurprisingly, Wolverine.

According to Marvel.com, we will be getting our first Wolverine ongoing series since he died a few years ago. Keep in mind that they mean comics starring James "Logan" Howlett from Earth 616, so Old Man Logan and All-New Wolverine don't count since they star an older Logan and Laura Kinney respectively. I mean, technically they're still Wolverines but tell Marvel that.

Former Green Arrow writer Benjamin Percy will be scripting this new series, while veteran Wolverine artist Adam Kubert and rising star Viktor Bogdonavic will be rotating artists for this comic book. Here's what Percy had to say about writing the new Wolverine series:

"We all have that character. The one we love more than any other. The one we treasure in books and movies and maybe memorialize with a t-shirt or tattoo. The one we relate to as a cracked-mirror version of ourselves. For me—as a growly, grumpy, hairy, smelly, muscled, flannel-clad, whiskey-swilling loner who lives in the woods of the frozen north—it's Logan. And though this might sound corny, it also feels right to say that writing Wolverine is a dream come true, a childhood fantasy realized. No kidding, bub."

It's clear that Percy's love for the character is apparent and we can't wait to see what he does for the character. Percy has had experience writing the character, penning Wolverine: The Long Night and Wolverine: The Lost Trail but this will be his first time writing canon stories for Logan. The fact that its post-House of X and Powers of X also makes this much more intriguing.

Wolverine #1 comes out in February 2020.
