We Might Be Getting More Black Widow Movies

Scarlet Johansson's upcoming Black Widow movie is something fans have been begging for since she appeared in Iron Man 2. Charismatic appearances in movies like Captain America: The Winter Soldier only strengthened those demands so it's a relief to know that we'll finally see it next year. Most of us are expecting this to be a one-in-done since Natasha was killed during the events of Avengers: Endgame but that might not be the end of this possible franchise.

NY Times writer Kyle Buchanan was in attendance for the Elle Women in Hollywood event where ScarJo said something interesting, calling Black Widow a standalone franchise. In case you were planning to write this off as a farewell to Johansson as Natasha, these comments make it seem like we will be seeing more Black Widow movies.

Just to be clear, you can actually have a Black Widow movie without ScarJo in it. After all, there are a lot of people who have used that codename, including Yelena Belova, who will make her MCU debut in the first film. Could this mean that we will see Yelena break out as a solo star soon?

Avengers: Endgame made it clear that Natasha couldn't come back, even with the power of the Infinity Stones. Bruce Banner even said that he thought of bringing her back during the snap but the Soul Stone's rules just can't be broken. Unless she went into hiding - anything is possible in an MCU film - then we can only assume that she has perished.

Black Widow comes out on May 1, 2020.
