Watchmen NYCC Teaser Gives Us a Glimpse at Doctor Manhattan

HBO's Watchmen is coming out next month and we're all curious to see how Lost showrunner Damon Lindelof handles the graphic novel from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. More details will be revealed during New York Comic-Con (NYCC) on October 4 and a teaser for the event was released. It's a mishmash of scenes we've seen already and some that are new, like the appearance of Doctor Manhattan.

That's right, the naked blue superhero makes a brief appearance in this teaser, looking down on us like the god he is/thinks he is. Okay, that's a bit much; he doesn't exactly have an ego when it comes to being above everyone else, he's just lost his connection to humanity. While the world has realized that it wasn't aliens or Doctor Manhattan who attacked New York, it seems like Manhattan isn't to come back.

Previous teasers have revealed that Manhattan actually has some followers now, with one of the blue masks seen in the teaser above. How these followers factor into the series, especially since there are also Rorschach followers who are at war with the police. We can imagine them being delusional heretics but that's just a guess.

I'm still anxious about the HBO Watchmen series but it does have a lot of potential. Granted, the whole "tick-tock" thing is a bit ridiculous but I'm willing to be proven wrong.

HBO's Watchmen comes out on October 20.
