Warner Bros. Reveals Real Reason for Birds of Prey Name Change

Only after a week of being in cinemas, DC and Warner Bros. have renamedBirds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) into Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. This is a name change that many of us didn't see coming and most of us assumed it was done due to the film underperforming during its first week. While that's probably still the case, Warner Bros. has given the supposed real reason for the Birds of Prey name change.

In a statement released to The Verge, a Warner Bros. representative claims that this was done so that the movie would be easier to search for online through SEO. It's an interesting statement and one that could be seen as true, though the original title did have Birds of Prey in it, which should have been easy enough to look for.

Many fans have been defensive over the movie's poor performance, bringing up how the film has made its production money back, with this week likely making its marketing fee as well. That's just a prediction mind you but it would help Warner Bros. out a lot and it would be nice to see a sequel in the future.

Whatever the case, we would like to see this DC movie succeed. Many people claim that it's actually the best DCEU film yet, which actually means something when films like Shazam and Wonder Woman are part of that universe.

Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey is now showing in theaters.
