The Witcher Season 2 Will Keep Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri in the Same Timeline

After the success of the first season, The Witcher Season 2 has a lot of fans pumped up, especially since we have been promised a more linear structure in terms of storytelling. The odd timeline was one of the many things that everyone criticized, even people who like the show, so it will be interesting to see how the second season handles Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri.

Speaking with Vulture, The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich described how the second season would be more linear in terms of storytelling, though she does intend to explore other ways to tell the story in a different way. We can appreciate that since originality will help the show differentiate itself from other fantasy shows.

Here's what Hissrich had to say about the second season and it's storytelling:

All three characters [Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer] are on the same timeline now. That's where we ended season one. That's absolutely where we will pick up in Season Two. The stories will be told in a much more linear fashion. They won't all be one story. It's not like all three are together and happy all the time. But, I do want to employ some different ways to look at time series-wide. I think that there is a lot that we couldn't fit into Season One. There are different short stories that I would love to highlight and focus on. We may end up doing those in the future, via flashback, for instance. But no, we won't have things happening across 100 years at the same time anymore.

Considering how shocking the timeline difference was in the first season, fans are probably really happy to get more traditional storytelling in The Witcher Season 2. That doesn't mean we aren't open to experimentation since fans are more than open to seeing changes in Geralt's story but having less-confusing plot-points is always going to gain some support.
