The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are Coming to Netflix

If you love the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and how Nickelodeon has been using the license, then a new animated film coming to Netflix should be great news. Deadline has confirmed that an animated movie based on the Riseof the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be coming to the streaming service, though it won't be tied into the series of the same name, which is a bit odd.

Mentioning that this won't be tied to the series is an odd decision, though weirder things have happened. Maybe they mean that this will be a self-contained movie that won't require past knowledge of the show, though having the same name as the current cartoon will just confuse everyone. As long as the movie is good, this shouldn't be a problem in the long run.

Here's a statement from Viacom, the owner of Nickelodeon, about the deal to use Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Loud House:

"This partnership with Netflix is part of Nickelodeon and Viacom's broader efforts to tap into Nickelodeon's library of culturally resonant properties and produce new content for third-party digital and linear platforms."

This isn't the only deal Netflix and Nickelodeon have had. Both companies are also working on a live-action series based on Avatar: The Last Airbender, which a lot of people are anxious about, especially after the live-action movie that ended up disappointing everyone. Thanks for that M. Night Shyamalan.

No release date for this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated film has been released.
