The Next Batwoman Actress Won't Replace Ruby Rose's Kate Kane

The CW's Batwoman is only about to reach its second season and we're already getting a big casting change, with Ruby Rose leaving the cowl and cape for another LGBTQ actress to pick up. However, fans have discovered that the next Batwoman actress will not be replacing Ruby Rose's Kate Kane, as leaked casting details have revealed that a new character will be taking her place.

According to the casting details that were leaked in a now-deleted Reddit post (via Decider), the new character will be called Ryan Wilder and is supposed to be "likable, messy, a little goofy, and untamed." They also point out that this character will be "nothing like Kate Kane," so we have to wonder how she will even become Batwoman in the first place. Then again, we're sure they'll come up with something.

With Ruby Rose officially leaving before Batwoman Season 2 even started filming, it will be interesting to see who ends up getting the role. We're glad to know that The CW is looking for an openly lesbian actress, regardless of ethnicity, so this should be the positive start for whoever they end up getting. Hopefully, the trolls on Twitter won't be jerks about it.

Batwoman Season 2 is supposed to arrive on The CW sometime next year, though we could see that changing due to COVID-19 being annoying.
