The Batman Star Robert Pattinson Says Reactions to His Casting Were 'Less Vitriolic' Than Expected

Considering how beloved Ben Affleck as Batman was, despite the films starring him being less than mediocre, we all knew that whoever would replace him would face some backlash. When Robert Pattinson was cast as Affleck's replacement for The Batman, fans were outraged, even though the actor has proven himself in other movies outside of Twilight. Apparently, the outrage wasn't as bad as the actor expected, which is actually nice to hear.

Speaking with Variety, Pattinson revealed that the reactions to his casting were "less vitriolic" than he expected. Pattinson knows that he will have to prove himself to fans and he is up for the challenge, pointing out that it's sometimes fun being an underdog. Considering how most WWE fans love an underdog story, we will be rooting for Pattinson to prove those haters wrong.

"To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting. It's much more fun when you're an underdog. There's no expectation of you."

He's actually done pretty well for himself in other movies since Twilight, though other fans won't focus on that part. Seriously, check Pattinson out in Good Time and you will be more than hyped to see him portray a billionaire who can't get over his dead parents. As someone who has had his doubts, I'm really hoping Pattinson proves everyone wrong.

The Batman will be coming to theaters on June 25, 2021.
