Taika Waititi Wishes He Could Use Deadpool In The MCU

Taika Waititi is a director who loves comedy and Thor: Ragnarok isn't the first film that showed that. Fans of the director will remember his hilarious movie What We Do In The Shadows, which might be getting a television series in the near future. With all this in mind, it's not too surprising to know that he would love to direct Deadpool.

During a Twitter Q and A, Waititi was asked about a character he would have wanted to put in Thor: Ragnarok. He quickly stated that he would want to use The Merc With A Mouth, but can't due to Fox having the rights to the character. Considering how successful the first Deadpool film was, it looks like Fox won't be giving up the rights to the character anytime soon.

Fans have been wanting to see X-Men characters in the MCU for some time, but that's not going to happen anytime soon. Despite a few clunkers here and there, Fox has had a number of great films under the X-Men banner. Deadpool, Logan, and X-Men: Days of Future Past are just some of the great films that have been made by the studio. With the horror-themed New Mutants gaining fan support and the success of Legion and The Gifted, Fox is on a roll. Still, Waititi would do wonders with Deadpool and it's a shame that we won't be seeing them together anytime soon.

Thor: Ragnarok comes out next week, on November 3. Deadpool 2 comes out on June 1, 2018.
