Taika Waititi Isn't Sure if Jane's Breast Cancer Story Will be in Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder is going to be a big deal when it comes out, not only bringing us the return of Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder but also introducing the Jane Foster version that many comic book fans fell in love with. Natalie Portman will be returning as Foster for the fourth film, after being absent in Thor: Ragnarok and fans are wondering if they will adopt Jane's breast cancer story into the silver screen.

Ragnarok and Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi isn't sure, at least not yet.

Speaking with Variety, Waititi was asked about the storyline and if it would be appearing in Love and Thunder. The director expressed his admiration for this story, enjoying how we see Jane as a beautiful, powerful goddess on one page and then seeing her struggling with a real-life sickness in the other.

"I think that's a really powerful part of the books. I think it's really cool that she's fighting this thing and there's two battles going on. Personally I really love that storyline. But whether it ends up in the film is yet to be seen."

While we don't need to see that storyline, it would be a nice tough if handled well. Waititi is a very talented director and could probably handle it but we'll see. If he wants to keep things light and action-packed, he should probably skip the whole cancer bit.

Thor: Love and Thunder comes out on November 5, 2021.
