Storm Actress Says X-Men: Dark Phoenix Will Be Faithful To The Comics

The X-Men movies have often been criticized for not following storylines from the comics, even if the films themselves are of high quality like X-Men: First Class. When fans found out that the next film would be called X-Men: Dark Phoenix, they got a bit worried since the Dark Phoenix Saga is considered to be the best X-Men story of all time. Alexandra Shipp, the actress who will be portraying Storm, has told fans not to worry and that it would be faithful to the original story.

During an interview with SyFy Wire, Shipp stated that the script would "stay true" to what fans look for in these films. Shipp also stated that director Simon Kinberg has more freedom now and that would allow for a more faithful adaptation of the comics. It's an interesting statement and should get cautious fans a bit more optimistic about the film, especially after the mediocrity of X-Men: Apocalypse.

Shipp also brought up how Storm is a dream role for her and that she actually cosplayed as the character a few times. It's nice seeing the actress be a fan of the character and fans can hope that she gets more development time for Dark Phoenix. Even fans that liked X-Men: Apocalypse will have to admit that Storm was poorly developed in the last film.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on November 2. Most of the actors from X-Men: Apocalypse will be reprising their roles.
