Star Wars: The Mandalorian Reportedly Killed Boba Fett Movie

There have been plenty of negative rumors regarding the Boba Fett movie, which was going to be the next Star Wars Story spin-off after Solo. This was all due to the failings of Solo, which changed the plans of Lucasfilm and Disney. Now that we have The Mandalorian on the way, it seems like plans for Boba Fett are as dead as the character was after Return of the Jedi.

Erick Weber, a critic who attended a special screening of Black Panther with some Disney executives, revealed in a tweet that Kathleen Kennedy told him that the Boba Fett movie was dead. Since The Mandalorian covering similar themes and stories, it would seem redundant to have a movie based on the bounty hunter, no matter how much the fans want it.

Fans who have been keeping up with news on the internet have been aware of the spinoff's messy history. Josh Trank was originally going to work on the movie but Fant4stic ruined those chances. James Mangold of Logan fame was then contacted to work on the film but that didn't work out either. Guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Depending on who you ask, Fett is either the coolest character in the Star Wars mythos or the worst one. While the books and comics did a good job at showing some of his more badass moments, the movies barely did anything with him and gave him an embarrassing death at the hands of a blinded Han Solo. Fans even compare Captain Phasma to him since they both look great but are treated like garbage, literally for Phasma in The Force Awakens.

The Mandalorian will be a part of the Disney Play streaming service, though no release date has been given.
