Star Wars: Russian Bots Were Reportedly Part of the Kelly Marie Tran Social Media Hate

No matter how you feel about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, you have to feel bad for actress Kelly Marie Tran. Sure, she had one of the most cringe-worthy lines in the movie, but Tran did do her best with the role and gave a decent performance. Unfortunately, a lot of people's hatred for the movie made them attack her on social media, which resulted in her tragic exit from all social media platforms.

Interestingly enough, a recent study by Morten Bay revealed that Russian bots were responsible for half of the hatred that the actress received on social media. Why these bots felt the need to add hatred to the mix is questionable at the least but according to the reports, they did this so to be relevant and add to the commotion.

Unfortunately, this also means that half of the hatred that Tran received was from real people, which is really sad. Once again, you can hate the movie all you want if you didn't like it; you paid for your movie ticket and were dissatisfied after all. But you shouldn't hate someone for doing their job and attacking them on social media is just too much.

Thankfully, fans of Tran will be happy to know that she is currently filming her parts for Star Wars: Episode IX. At the end of The Last Jedi, she was left in a comatose state after she saved Finn from sacrificing himself, confessed her love to the Resistance Fighter and kissed him. When you consider how he might have feelings for Rey (and maybe Poe?) it should make for some fun drama.

Star Wars: Episode IX is slated for a December 20, 2019 review.
