Star Wars Introduced Force Healing Before The Mandalorian and The Rise of Skywalker

Fans were fairly surprised when The Mandalorian brought Force Healing to the movie canon, before seeing it in The Rise of Skywalker a bit later and realizing that it was a neat bit of corporate synergy. While it was cool seeing the ability being used in a movie, most fans knew about Force Healing due to the original expanded universe, now called Star Wars Legends, where various Jedi used it before.

However, as Digital Spy pointed out, it looks like Force Healing has been around since the very beginning of Star Wars, starting with, well, Star Wars. I suppose we have to call it A New Hope now but older fans probably miss the days when each movie didn't have Star Wars in the title's beginning.

Anyway, it was pointed out that during a scene in A New Hope, Luke almost died in the Judland Wastes, only for Obi-Wan Kenobi to come and save him. Not only did the old man protect Luke but he also put his fingertips on his soon-to-be apprentice's temples. Soon after, Luke was okay and that's arguably the first time we saw Force Healing in the Star Wars universe.

That's right, the very first piece of Star Wars media is where Force Healing became a thing. Who would have thought that in this layered and convoluted franchise, this ability actually came from the very first film? The more you know.

Star Wars: A New Hope, The Mandalorian, and The Rise of Skywalker are now showing on Disney+ and can also be bought on digital platforms.
