Star Wars Confirms That Ben Solo Was Luke Skywalker's First Student

Say what you will about Marvel's Star Wars comics but they have been giving fans a lot of interesting insight on some of the lesser-known parts of this franchise's extensive lore. Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren has been one of those comics, giving fans the lowdown on how Ben Solo turned to the Dark Side and became Kylo Ren, which has been a mixture of intriguing and predictable, but in a good way.

Thanks to Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren #3, we now know that Ben Solo wasn't just one of Luke Skywalker's students; he was the first one! This means that Luke didn't establish his Jedi Academy for quite a bit, likely having to fight whatever forces were still lingering around after Palpatine's "death." Still, it's neat knowing that Ben was Luke's first student, though the eventual Sith Lord did say that others enrolled not long after.

Aside from this neat little factoid, The Rise of Kylo Ren has also told us what Ren means and why people who lead The Knights of Ren have to wear masks, both of which have been entertainingly underwhelming. It's pretty much what fans of Kylo Ren have wanted to read and a bit more so here's hoping future Star Wars media adapts some of this in the near future.
