Stan Lee's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Cameo was Based on MCU Fan Theories

Stan Lee is gone but his memory will live on in all the classic Marvel stories he wrote and the people that they changed for the better. Even now, fans are getting inspired by the likes of Daredevil and Spider-Man so it's safe to say that Lee will live forever through these characters. Funnily enough, the idea of Stan Lee watching over everyone was something MCU fans would theorize about, thinking that all of his cameos meant that he was The Watcher of this universe.

Funnily enough, all those MCU fan theories led to James Gunn suggesting an awesome scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which many will say is Lee's best cameo. On Twitter, Gunn confirmed that the various fan theories of Stan being The Watcher is what led to his cameo in the film, which is pretty fun to see.

There are a lot of mixed opinions about fan theories, mostly from the people at Hollywood who are trying to make their stories surprising. They seem to take offense when fans guess what their big twists are, changing things at the last moment to catch them by surprise, even though it doesn't make much sense. Then again, there are those that just copy/paste fan theories and turn them into movies like The Rise of Skywalker.

Basically, fans should be able to discuss their theories online in forums like Reddit or ResetEra without Hollywood taking offense to their correct guessing. That just means fans are interested in your product so relax. Come on.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now available on Disney+, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
