Spider-Man PS4: Insomniac is Open to Making a Sequel

Insomniac's Spider-Man PS4 exclusive has been getting all of the praise lately and it sure as hell deserves it. The game is ridiculously fun, especially the web-swinging and combat, so it's not exactly hyperbole to call this the best Spider-Man game ever made. As we wait for the game's DLC, fans have wondered if a sequel is on the way.

During an interview with Fandom, Insomniac community director James Stevenson revealed that the company would be game (haha) to make a sequel.

Stevenson said that working with Marvel ended up being better than expected, as the experience pushed them to make this video game better. As if that wasn't surprising enough, Stevenson also revealed that Marvel wasn't too hands-on with the development process, so Insomniac had a lot of freedom in making this the "ultimate" Spider-Man experience.

This is pretty good news, especially when you compare it to the experience Capcom had when working with the company for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. Unlike Spider-Man PS4, Infinite got mixed reviews and wasn't particularly loved by the mainstream. It wasn't a bad game and actually had really good fighting game mechanics, but the small roster and mediocre presentation hurt it badly.

We're pretty thankful that Insomniac was given some leeway with this game, as it is now a Game of the Year contender alongside God of War. Spider-Man PS4 is now available for purchase.
